Fourteen years after defeating the immortal warrior, Himuro Genma, and destroying the evil plans of Shogun, Kyobagami Jubei continued to travel across Japan as a masterless swordsman. During his travels, he met Shigure, a priest who had never been outside his village. However, when a group of demons destroyed his village and killed his family, his main goal became obtaining the Dragon Jewel - the Insignia. Meanwhile, Shigure, accompanied by a Dakuan monk and a young thief named Subute, embarked on a journey to Yagyu. Now that two demonic tribes are hunting Shigure, Dakuan must once again serve Jubei and protect the priest of light.
